Tennis & French
Tennis – Wednesday Mornings
Throughout the year all of the children take part in cur weekly tennis lesson with our coach Austin. This session is proving excellent at getting children aware of a sporting activity. Physical activities such as these at this age are vital for developing children’s gross motor skills, stamina, strength, hand-eye coordination along with taking turns and playing games with their peers.
We play throughout the year in the parks all weather courts, if the weather is too wet then we play ball games under cover in the garden setting.
The activity involves games using rackets and tennis balls, court line memory games, balancing balls on rackets, chase the dog along with early tennis skills. It is so exciting to see a child under 3 returning a tennis ball, whilst getting lots of fresh air.
French – Tuesday Mornings
On Tuesday mornings the children all take part in a French lesson, an adult led activity with our
French teacher Jane.
The activity is always popular with the children and whilst they play French games, learn songs
and vocabulary they are also developing their listening and spoken word skills. The games
involve speaking out and taking turns in the group activity, building confidence for future activities in Primary School.
